Yes, we indeed found the four Newgate Prison boxes in our
attempted wrapup of all the boxes in CT a couple of weeks ago.
The stamps from boxes 1 and 3 had somehow gotten reversed
with the coins stamp that went with the clues for box 3 appearing
in box 1. So, as several people ahead of us had suggested for
the next letterboxers to do, we took the time to put them back in
the proper order. It was an interesting series, but we think that
the paces are of the two steps per pace variety.

Returned to this series on Sunday 5/19/02.
Confirmed that "clothes, compass.food" was still there,. We found this one on 3/24/02, but did not pay attention to the fact the stamp was wrong.
We again had trouble finding the second box "lantern". Perhaps the definition of "pace" throws off this clue?
We did locate the third and fourth (copper coins and horse). We were a week behind Wanda and Pete. I don't remember now if they found #2.
#3 was located, pretty much by luck, again the paces seemed to be off.
Perhaps the planters can help define a "pace"

Glad to hear that they are back the way they should be now. A pace is counted as two steps. Hope this helps. By the way, was the silver ink pad in the last box? One person told me it was missing, but then recently I heard it was still there. Hope you enjoyed your hike.Melissa

Yes, the silver ink pad was in #4.
The hike was great, in fact we continued onto the end in Suffield by Phelps Rd. (after leaving a car there of course)
It will help with the new unit of measure, If we had returned to the beginning, we would have used this measure, becasue it became apparent at #3 what the 20 paces might be.
Thanks for the reply
